Overview
Refinish Technician Level 1 (RT1) is an entry level apprentice position. An RT1 is responsible for the general preparation of a vehicle prior to painting. An RT1 must provide his/her own hand tools including air sanders, air wrenches, miscellaneous air tools, and a mobile tool cabinet.
Key Responsibilities
1. Disassemble and assemble miscellaneous trim and hardware including chrome, bumpers, and accessories
2. Sand, mask, clean, and prime vehicles prior to painting
3. Work independently as well as under the supervision of the assigned Master Refinish Technician
4. Protect the interior and exterior non-repair areas from dust, dirt, scratches, primer, overspray, etc.
5. Paint edges of panels and parts as need dictates
6. Wet sand and buff the refinished areas as needed following the application of a top coat
Basic Requirements
Previous autobody experience is not mandatory but is preferred. Some type of automotive experience is necessary. The ability to read and follow instructions precisely and to work independently as well as with others in an organized manner is essential.
