Description
The Master Metal Technician (MMT) is an expert craftsman with a thorough understanding of all phases of light to heavy collision repair. An MMT is responsible for completing all body repairs as listed on the RO and must be a skilled welder with the ability to remove and refit welded panels as well as the bolt-on items required in a typical crash repair.
In addition, an MMT has a complete understanding of the inter-relationship with all other positions in the company, and has the ability to solve problems independently. An MMT must demonstrate the maturity, knowledge, and communication skills necessary to lead a Metal Team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform small to heavy repair, finishing and priming jobs
2. Tear down vehicles
3. Refit new parts such as bumpers, fenders, grills, moldings, and other bolt-on and welded items
4. Complete all repairs in a manner in which the repaired areas are restored to the original manufacturer’s specifications, including door, hood and deck alignments, chassis and frame measurements, and welded on unibody parts
5. Provide guidance, education, and assistance to assigned apprentices in such a manner that furthers their developmental growth
Basic Requirements
Complete understanding of all facets of light to heavy automobile collision repair. The ability to read, understand, and perform written instructions accurately and consistently and to work independently as well as with others in an organized manner is essential. The ability to effectively manage the activities of a metal team is mandatory. I-CAR Gold Class and ASE certification is necessary.
